    An interview with the last managing director of Milwaukee Shakespeare before its closing in 2008. Milwaukee Shakespeare was heavily dependent on one donor; when that donor dropped out due to economic hardships from the recession of 2008, the theatre and its board struggled with the decision to close. The closing affected artists, students, and the Milwaukee community. Van Hallgren reflects on the experience and what other managers can learn from it.
